Investing in Our People: A Strong Start to Staff CPD in 2026
At SCD Leisure Clondalkin, we understand that delivering a high-quality, safe, and welcoming experience begins with our people. That’s why we’ve made a strong start to 2026 by investing in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) across our team—ensuring staff feel confident, capable, and supported in their roles.
Earlier this year, we were proud to host the annual Pool Lifeguard Competition, an exciting and fast-paced event designed to test the skills, endurance, and teamwork of lifeguards. The competition brought together participants from across centres, and the standard on display was incredibly high.
While we didn’t retain the winners’ trophy this time around, our team delivered a performance to be proud of. Their professionalism, resilience, and commitment to safety were evident throughout and reflect the high standards we uphold every day at Clondalkin.
Building on this momentum, 15 members of our team successfully completed their Lifeguard Revalidation. This rigorous process ensures that all lifeguards maintain the highest level of competency and are fully equipped to respond in any situation. Encouragingly, this group included members of our management team—highlighting a shared commitment across all levels of the organisation to lead by example and stay up to date with essential qualifications.
We are also excited to support the next generation of swim instructors. A total of 11 employees from Clondalkin and Tallaght have recently begun the Water Safety Ireland Assistant Swim Teachers course. Over the coming months, these team members will gain valuable hands-on experience as they complete their practical teaching hours alongside our fully qualified swim teachers.
This approach ensures consistency and quality across our swimming programmes, while also creating clear pathways for career progression within SCD Leisure. By nurturing talent from within, we continue to strengthen our team and enhance the service we provide to our community.
These initiatives reflect our ongoing commitment to staff development, maintaining the highest safety standards, and continuously improving our services. Most importantly, they ensure that every member and visitor to Clondalkin Leisure Centre can enjoy a safe, supportive, and high-quality experience.
