Lifesaving is run in the centre by the Irish Water Safety. It runs every Thursday evening and aims to give students the skills required to become lifeguards on pools and beaches. It is a great skill to have and many students go on to work in the south Dublin region once qualified. Lifesaving classes include tuition on the many water based skills that lifeguards employ and they also provide skills such as basic first aid and resuscitation. These highly sought after classes run all year round and if you are interested in taking part then pop along and speak to Brian Cornelia or Ben Kennedy in the centre on a Thursd
In the New Year we will be running a lifesaving skills course prior to the actual lifesaving class. The aim of this class is to teach the basic skills required for the lifesaving club, such as the different strokes used and the various skills used in and around the water. This club is aimed at those who might not be old enough for the lifesaving class (under 15’s) and who would like a good idea of what will be required of them to become a lifeguard. This class will not qualify lifeguards.
